EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS
March 9-11, 2012 Little Rock
June 3, 2012 Fort Smith
The convention committee has worked hard to plan this year’s
EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS. THE SPRING MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE CROWNE
PLAZA, 201 S. SHACKELFORD ROAD, LITTLE ROCK, AR. We will bring the
exhibit hall back on Friday night so make plans to attend and ask ALL
your vendors to attend.
On Saturday afternoon we will do a hands on work shop, if you are
interested in helping please contact Patti Farris.
We will have an election of officers and board members on Saturday
afternoon if you are interested in being an officer or being on the
board, please contact Velvet Prewitt.
On Sunday we will have four hours of State Board credits that are
also NCLE approved.
The Fort Smith meeting will be held at the Courtyard, Fort Smith, Ar.
We will have a four hour basic optics course that will be a good review
for all and an excellent study session for those who are taking Arkansas
Boards.
Both hotels have given us a discounted room rate, when you make your
reservations, tell them you are with the Opticians Association of
Arkansas.
We will offer a Guest badge for the Little Rock meeting. HOWEVER,
REMEMBER THAT A PERSON WITH A GUEST BADGE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE
MEETING ROOM. THEY CAN ONLY ATTEND MEAL FUNCTIONS. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE
THEM INTO THE MEETING ROOMS WITH YOU.
Mark you calendar and make plan to attend one of
these seminars. |

PRESIDENT’S LETTER Hello
everyone!!! Happy New Year!! I hope everyone is recovering from a happy
holiday season. January is always a good time to take a good look at our
lives, our careers and our businesses to see what changes need to be
made in order to make the coming year a good one. This January is no
different. There is so much change happening in the optical world and I
encourage us all to embrace them. The best way to do that is to make the
best use of all the educational tools we have to learn and teach
ourselves and others about the newest additions in optical lenses and
frames! Our patients look to us to be the experts! Take the time to
learn all you can about your lens/frame choices and all about your
patients so that you will not disappoint them, thus allowing them an
excuse to go elsewhere the next time they need eyewear. We are excited
about this year and hope that you will join us for one of our scheduled
meetings around the state this year. We are excited to have our vendors
invited back this year so please get the word out that you would love to
see them there! A lot of time and effort goes into planning these events
as our organization has become very large! We welcome your input so
please feel free to contact myself or one of the other board members
with ideas or comments. You may reach me a
idoiis2000@yahoo.com or
870-863-9183 or 870-818-1994.
Look forward to seeing you soon. Have a great year! Go out and make
it happen for yourself, your office and your patients. Be PROUD of what
you do!!
Best Regards,
Patti Farris
